Whitstable Summer Weekend Park and Ride
In 2009, Canterbury City Council, in conjunction with the Kent Messenger Group, George Wilson Holdings and Kent Top Travel provided a weekend Park and Ride service for the Oyster Festival.
Negotiations are underway to repeat this service in 2010, providing a weekend service on the Saturday and Sunday between 8am to 7pm each day. This includes 80 parking spaces at the Kent Messenger Group building and 100 places at the George Wilson building on the Estuary View business park, off the A2990 west bound approach to Whitstable from the A299 (also accessible from the east bound A2990).
These 180 additional parking spaces are designed to ease some of the congestion in the town centre during the weekends. Existing town centre car parks will still be in use as well as the charity car park at the Whitstable Juniors School in Oxford Street.
Staff will be on hand at the Park and Ride entrance to advise on available parking should this fill to capacity.
