Most Oyster Festival events for families are either free or very subsidised. You will find traditional pastimes like crabbing, kite flying, chalking and Punch and Judy plus workshops, explorations, and street entertainment.

See recreations of traditional events unique to Whitstable’s fishing history. As well as the symbolic Landing of the Catch, colourful Oyster Parade and annual Blessing of the Waters ceremony, you can also learn the art of building grotters.

Whitstable is home to thriving arts, crafts and performing arts communities all year round, and most come out to play this week. You’ll see home grown talent as well as guest performers from further afield.
