Oysterband Acoustic at the Oyster Stores
Royal Native Oyster Stores
7.30pm.
Oysterband, one of the most innovative folk-rock bands of the last three decades and twice winners of BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, literally return to their roots on Sunday 24th July. The Oyster Stores is where they played their first ever show in 1978, and where they took their name. After over 30 years of international touring they’re coming “home” for the Oyster Festival to play two intimate, stripped-down acoustic performances, showcasing their powerful songwriting as well as their trad roots, at 3.30 in the afternoon and 7.30 the same evening. “We make a kind of modern, folk-based British music,” they say, “acoustic at heart but not always quiet….” It’ll be a hot ticket, so book early!
Also performing will be special guest Sam Carter - BBC Folk Awards Newcomer of the Year 2010.
Entry £15. Tickets available from www.wegottickets.com and Rock Bottom Records, Harbour Street.
More information is available at www.whitstablefolk.co.uk or by calling 07895 683567.
