10.15 to 11.15am Tasty test time
A tasty challenge for children of any age. Find out how good you are at identifying food by touch, taste and smell by signing up for our blindfold Tasty Taste Challenge on the Harbour Stage. Every entrant also gets entered into a daily draw where one lucky entrant will win chocolate and ice cream for the whole family!
11.30 am to 12.15pm Taste Challenge: Blindfold Bites
Take the ten taste challenge and see how well you know your foods. Every entrant is entered into a daily draw and one lucky entrant will win an EPICentre hamper today.
12.30pm to 1pm - Spud & Oils with Quex Foods
Anthony Curwen, managing director of Quex Foods gives a fun talk on potato and oils. You might also get to try the new range of Kent Crisps.
1.15pm to 1.45pm The Whitstable Diet
Dr Clive Askew explains why fish and shellfish are so remarkably good for you, and reveal the benefits of the Whitstable diet.
2pm to 2.45pm Cheese Please
Rachel of Rachel’s Deli fame uses her expert knowledge of cheese to share the depth and variety of local cheeses in Kent.
Includes samplings of cheeses discussed.
3pm to 3.15pm Open Taste Challenge – just try it….
Any age, any person – come to the stage to try a new flavour….
3.30 pm to 4.15pm Cook local with your Farmers Market
Zoe Morley from the Angel Cookery Academy will use food entirely from Whitstable’s Farmers market to create a delicious and nutritious dish.
4.30pm start The Annual Oyster Eating Competition
Take six oysters and half a pint of pilsner. Keep your hands on your head until the whistle blows then down the lot as fast as possible. Yes it is gross, but it’s also funny. The fastest time wins and the competition is taken very seriously.
Organised by Crab & Winkle restaurant and Whitstable Fish Market. Over 18s only. Entry £3 per person. Entries forms available in advance from the Horsebridge Centre, the Whitstable Shop, or enter on the day. Places limited.
